The George V Half Penny series, lasting throughout George V’s reign from 1911 to 1936, features a partitioned, circular reverse design with COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA around the outer ring with the year at the bottom and ONE HALF PENNY within the inner ring. Graded VF.
In 1914 the Heaton mint produced 1.2 million half pennies for circulation in Australia. The date has become one of the semi-key dates of the series, though more common than its Royal mint brother. This type is distinguished from the 1914 plain half penny by the mintmark H below the lower scroll on the reverse.
